Albergo Hanmer is renowned for being Hanmer's Cuisine & Wellness haven. The 3 - course designer breakfast menu features over 10 choices to start the day and guests can choose a time to dine that suits them. The menu allows for seasonal changes and variety, ideal for longer stays - guests can try something new each morning!
Start with a fresh fruit platter with Bascha's low fat homemade yogurt - a palette of fresh colours to feast the eyes! Or an authentic Swiss Bircher - Muesli made by Beat, using a traditional recipe from his home village - pester him enough and he may let you in on his secret recipe!

Follow up with a range of delightful breakfast cereals, including Albergo roasted muesli and our selection of nuts, from the buffet.

Homemade brad 
The wafting smell of fresh bread and Italian coffee, will adorn the room... the crunchy Swiss home-made mini-loaf is served with butter curls & jam. Our aromatic blend of fine Italian coffee is very popular or alternatively a wide selection of teas are there for the picking-from traditional English Breakfast or Earl grey, to exotic vanilla, green tea or Swiss Rosehip.
Meanwhile in the chef's kitchen, the hot mains are individually styled and colourfully presented following the guest's choice and any dietary requests there may be. Homemade corn bread can be offered for persons on a gluten free diet, plenty of Swiss breakfast bacon for followers of
the Dr. Akins trend!

A popular favourite of regular guests is the Albergo Special : Seafarmed Akaroa salmon on muffin base, topped with poached eggs and of course, the a la Minute hollandaise sauce... or go 'Spanish' with an apple & sage frittata... For the lovers of sweet starts to the day, the wafer - thin lemon honey crepes, served with maple syrup are just perfect. Or a sweet - savoury option is the french toast stack with crispy bacon & cinnamon seared banana pieces.

Soak up the alpine air and mountain vistas while partaking in a leisurely breakfast at a time to suit you... uninterrupted mountain views over breakfast - alfresco in summer in our Feng Shui sunken courtyard with soothing waterfall splashing over the glacical boulders.
Exclusive dinners are by prior arrangement & subject to availability, and are tailormade 2 - 6 courses prepared using the freshest produce.
Guests dine by candlelight in the private dining room and are fully served: Prime NZ beef medallions, baby lamb racks, venison tenderloins... enveloped with Italian or Asian entrees for example. Desserts are to die for... with that Swiss touch if you like... or why not Italian tiramisu or mini pavlovas draped in chocolate ganache & fresh strawberries – just for a change!

Your hosts, Bascha & Beat are involved in each event, from setting & decorating your table, preparing the ingredients, 'cooking up a storm' and serving you. They pride in attention to detail and providing a memorable & fun dining experience. Authentic Swiss cheese fondue, served with local Waipara Springs Riesling is the feature winter menu. Special occasions, such as wedding anniversaries, honeymoons or surprises are catered for with zest!
